A Whale of a Time

We are leaving Nantucket today. I’m preparing for a several week depression full of Island withdrawl symptoms. But as we prepare for the ferry, plane, trains, automobiles and taxi cab-journey across country…make no mistake, we had a whale of time.

A few of my favorite (but there are soooo many!) photos:

I may have to be forcibly removed from this island…a whole year may be too long.

What a Ride!

We are on the tail end of a magnificent trip which has been quite the ride–both metaphorically and quite literally.   It is going to take a year at least to process all that has transpired over these weeks in Nantucket.  Last night was yet another surreal experience.

How often do you get the chance to ride in a 1926 Hewlett Packard limousine with your best friends?

Loving husband arranged a magical evening to celebrate our dear Zelda’s (I mean Amy) Birthday.   A true Gatsby moment through and through thanks also to Island Buggys. we all now want to ride or drive all the cars in their fleet.

Our driver, Wayne transported us to a bygone era. First stop, American Seasons restaurant for an absolutely show stopping meal.

Bravo Tim for orchestrating a wonderful evening.  Boy has this trip been a wonderful and crazy ride.  Heading home too soon.

Heating Up

The mercury is rising here in Nantucket. I can’t remember the last time I felt actually hot.  It’s a high of 90 here today.

Popsicles, shades, beach time, top down, slippin and a sliddin’, dinner on the grill, breezy sundresses all in order.  Helllloooo Summer!

2012 Nantucket Film Festival

And the fun continues (we may need a vacation from this vacay).  Today we saw our first film as part of the Nantucket Film Festival.

In its 17th year the festival debuts a little something for everyone.

The buzz around town, was both seen…

and felt.  Na na, na, na, na, na na, na na…. you get the picture.  By they way, how adorable are these windows from Vis a Vis?

Today it was for our kids.  Island premier of Brave (actually it hasn’t even been released anywhere yet and we were under strict orders to turn off phones and not bring in cameras to protect Disney.  Cartoons can be serious you know?

Lines wrapped around the Dreamland Theater.  The theater has been gloriously renovated and it was a treat to be there, even if we were in the first and second rows…

And we’re in…it didn’t disappoint, but I can’t tell you too much or I’ll hear about from Disney.  It was about girl power though and the special bond between a mother and daughter.  Good stuff.

Sailing in Nantucket

Still recovering from one of the best weekends of my life.  A weekend spent in honor of our 10th wedding anniversary in Nantucket.

One of the many events we enjoyed this weekend with family and friends who came to Nantucket to help us celebrate was a trip on The Nantucket Sound aboard The Endeavor for a day sail.  The pictures say it all, pure heaven.

One more event to recap tomorrow, Father’s Day brunch and this should bring us up to real time.

Life is good.
