Deep Thought

“The splendor of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not rob the little violet of it’s scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness.”

-Therese of Lisieux

It’s On!

Seattle Summer has arrived.

The dinners are outside

Entertaining comes with ease

The markets are loaded, like one of my favorites, the Farm Boat on Lake Union

With ole favorites and new discoveries, like kohlrabi…have you ever even heard of it?

“Bargain” deals like this heirloom seconds for $3.00 a pound.  Wait a sec., that’s still expensive!

Making it easy and fun to “eat local” like this beautiful halibut dish my husband whopped up the other night.

Drink it in Seattle-ites, as these days are long, but not long enough.  Our lush and beautiful summer has arrived!

Christmas in July

Yippee, look what the UPS man had for us today!

Red & White transferware handed down from my dear Auntie.

Can’t wait to figure out how I’m going to display them. I’m thinking perfect touch for our newly white kitchen. Or breakfast nook in a future home.

Happy Holiday Weekend!

P.S. My phone shows 7 suns for the week ahead.  Lots of goodness.

“America”

Everywhere around the world

They’re coming to America

Every time that flag’s unfurled

They’re coming to America

Got a dream to take them there

They’re coming to America

Got a dream they’ve come to share

They’re coming to America

Home, to a new and a shiny placeMake our bed, and we’ll say our grace

Freedom’s light burning warmThey’re coming to America

Today, today, today, today, today!

Love you Neil Diamond.  Love you M&G, Love you America!

Happy 4th of July.

A Rose By Any Other Name

Would smell as sweet.

The roses in Nantucket take the word “prolific” to new levels

The colors can take your breath away

Wafts of Rosa Rugosa are simply intoxicating

Climbing roses on speed it would seem.

Lattice on rooftops give the roses more room to climb…

PS. for the first day in a week, we woke up to the sun shining.  I may now begin to start blogging about Seattle Summer.  We have been patiently waiting.  For summer that is, there are great expectations you know. Oh Shakespeare and Dickens your words are still with us.
