What to Give the Host/ess?

Is your dance card filling up with 4th of July festivities? Of course you’re gonna need some gift ideas, and for as much as we all like to receive a bottle a wine or two.–there are a million fun things to give folks for this holiday.  This awesome tray was given to us as a gift for our anniversary (tin for ten) how thoughtful, love ya A.W. A bunch of people asked where it was from, Stephanies on Main Street in Nantucket.   Used it last night to entertain.  And it’s red, white and blue. Perfect.  Oh P.S. do you notice the awesome Sonos in the background?  Talk about the ultimate hostess gift.  We’re talking, ‘I’m staying in your summer home all summer-long’ kind of scenario here.

I recently assembled a platter of cheese crackers, styled in red, white and blue for some friends hosting us. Berries and crackers and cheese oh my!  Mounded atop a pretty blue patterned and super practical melanine divided serving platter.  Little secret, the platter is from Target as part of the home blue paisley collection.

And blue hydrangea–are possibly some of the most gorgeous summer flowers of all time.

You could gift a few simple blooms tied together with a red ribbon.  Voila. And if you want further guidance on the topic, etiquette expert, Emily Post makes recommendations here.

Happy hosting and host-gift-giving!

Finally Friday

I wasn’t exaggerating about the post-vacation depression. I also had the absolute worst day yesterday as in the process of trying to transfer 2,500 of our beautiful vacation photos, they somehow got deleted. Anger doesn’t even begin to describe it maybe more like full on sadness and grief. Even the genius’ at the Genius Bar couldn’t figure it out.  But this one survived, so I’ll continue to be mentally here for a while.

TGIF and say some prayers to the photo gods for me that they can be somehow found or retrieved.

Summertime Sweetness

There may not be much better in life than an outdoor shower at the beach.

I adore this photo.  Happy Thursday.

You Know What’s Good About Lobster?

For starters…everything.

How rad is our little buddy Hart’s shirt, Make Lobster Not War!  Don’t you love how totally serious his expression is?

You’re not seeing double.  These little lobster loving studs are twins.

Delicacies plucked from the sea.

I’m sure  this plate of perfection from The Lobster Trap is on several people’s “last supper” lists.  Photo cred: Rebecca Frisino:)

Big boys can rock cool shirts too ya know.  Especially those from MAINE!

A good ole fashion Surf and Turf always hits the spot.

And I must admit one of my all time favorites–lobster rolls.  My husband makes the best lobster salad with simply a touch of mayo, lemon juice, lemon zest, some diced onion, salt, pepper and celery.  Served on soft Fenway Frank buns.  Could be the world’s most perfect meal.

Happy Hump Day.

B-ACK to Reality

Sure it felt great to sleep in my own bed last night, and yeah I may have felt a little productive chucking junk mail and sorting bills into piles. But I’ll be honest I’d rather be here.

It’s rainy in Seattle right now and 55 degrees.  At least some things in life are reliable:)  Rain in Seattle (at least until July).  Gone island brights back to Lulu black yoga pants.  I guess there are no excuses today to not unpack and do laundry.  What goes up…must come down right?

Laters.
