Looking For Love

In all the right places…lookin’ for love.

Nothing says “I love you” quite like heart shaped cured meats.  Hope you find love in all the right or wrong places today.

Snow Day

No School Today

Seattle shuts down on a day like today.  The hills and the infrastructure aren’t cut out for elements such as these.

So we ride it out, make forts and sip cups of cocoa.

As the kids watch cartoons in their pajamas, seems like a good day to research travel to somewhere warm.

Happy Hunkering.

Red Carpet Ringer

Here it is, my favorite look from Sunday’s Golden Globes Award Ceremony.

Claire Danes in an exquisite J Mendel stunner.  I love the detail (Did you see the back?  Just gorgeous.) and the simplicity in the silhouette.  I love how it forces amazing posture.  The black and white provides the perfect contrasting drama against the red carpet don’t you think?

What was your favorite?  Bring it awards season, we’re ready!

Living Well 7 Turns Two!!

Living Well 7 turns two today!  Boy does time go fast, nearly 300 posts, hundreds of comments, a few cool partnerships and Lord knows how many hours logged?  But I’m gonna keep on keepin’ on.  I’ve learned a thing or two along the way and and I hope you have too.  Thanks for reading, thanks for sharing, stick with me and I’ll keep doing it…

Now to continue the cheese.  Literally.

Last night we made a fun and easy hors d’œuvre for our Golden Globes viewing party.

Cambozola Fondue

1.Simply place a hunk of Cambozola into a butter warmer (these are handy to have for crab bakes, lobster boils, etc.)

2. Light the tea light.

3. Give it a moment to heat up (or you could melt it on the stove to speed the process along)

4. Voila!  Serve with apple slices or hunks of bread, salami rolls, veggie spears or whatever tickles your fancy.

Hope your weekend was filled with ooozey goozey cheesey goodness.

P.S. Happy Birthday Mikey too!

Silhouette Art

Did you know that Silhouette art came from a french Minister of finance, Eitenne De Silhouette, from the 1700’s, who was one of the art form’s most famous practitioners?

Silhouettes became an inexpensive way to have one’s likeness captured in lieu of having one’s portraits taken until the advent of photography.  Which brings us to today and a resurgence of interest in this art form since photography has become commonplace.

We were so fortunate to have received 2 renderings of our girls created by one of the few living artists, Clay Rice still doing this art form by hand as did three generations in his family before him.  Talk about a gift to cherish forever.

Also for the treasure box, a signed copy of Clay Rice’s book, The Lonely Shadow.

Just a sweeter than sweet perspective of playing with shadows.

Here’s to gifts to treasure forever, of the material kind and beyond…Happy Weekend.
