Sips at Sunset

Last night we zoomed across town to catch the sunset.  The place we chose to watch it was Galley Beach.

One the most iconic Island restaurants, The Galley is a Nantucket institution. This summer we were delighted to check out the super special recent addition of torch lit outdoor space with comfy and chic rattan furniture.

It was the perfect spot for sipping some champagne and having a delicious nibble (beet salad and lemon risotto balls) or two while watching the pink sky.

Check out this amazing orange moon after darkness fell.  I hope the picture does it justice.

The night was still young and there were many other additions to Nantucket’s wonderful restaurant scene to explore.  From there we went to Dune which was fresh and delicious.  I had an amazing corn chowder with the most beautiful presentation.  And enjoyed final nightcaps at Ventuno, (Italian for 21) which is a new restaurant and bar where 21 Federal was.

They may have to forcibly remove me from this Island.  I’m in denial that we may have to leave at some point…until then, more exploring!

Sweet Strawberry Pickin’

There really is no such sweetness as berries plucked by your own fingers. Little kid fingers, even better.

This is how we started the morning picking fresh strawberries at Bartlett’s Farm following the farm tour.

A good start to the morning! Look at all those beautiful greens waiting to be made into fresh summer salads, glistening in the sun.

Check out the fruits of our labor.  Now our big decision of the day is what to do with the 4 quarts of luscious berries.  Ohh the possibilities!

Nantucket Film Festival

It’s almost here and the Island buzz is palpable.  Check out the official site HERE

Keeping my eyes peeled for fun folks around town, will let you know if there are any interesting sightings!

Island Farm

One of the preliminary stops for us when visiting Nantucket is always to Bartlett’s Farm. It’s the island’s oldest and largest working farm.

This is a gigantic potato.  Just kidding, it’s a rock.

These are the official greeters to the farm

Happy Employees enjoying a day “in the office”  She looks stressed, doesn’t she?

Like Cicso Brewery, (they are neighbors actually) the store which features farm grown items and more has also expanded, exponentially.  I’m obsessed with their tomatoes.  They’ll cost you a pretty penny, like $4.95 or something borderline absurd a pound, but are well worth it.   Think amazing BLT’s and caprese salads…

This is also one many great local nurseries for beautifying Island gardens.  Check out this interesting segment on Bartlett’s Farm on Plum TV Nantucket HERE

Tomorrow morning we are participating in one of their farm tours.  The kids are stoked.  Maybe more from me on the farm then.  But gotta run, the sun’s out!

Cisco Brewery, Nantucket Vineyard and Triple 8 Distillery–Oh My!

Visiting Cisco (named after one of my favorite Nantucket Beaches) Brewery on this recent trip back to Nantucket was like watching a child grow and grow and grow.

I remember just a few short years ago, when it was a one room operation.  We would come with our growlers waiting to be filled with the always delicious Whale’s Tale Ale.

And now, 4 new buildings, a huge courtyard designed for super laid back imbibing, and many more offerings later…all grown up!

This is where they do tastings of now famous Triple 8 Vodka and other spirits from the brand.

These guys tell me that the Blueberry Vodka is now the number one seller at the property.  Can’t wait to try mixed something acidic as they recommend, like tonic or lemonade.  Fun new summer cocktail recipe:

BLUEBERRY Triple 8

44 ML Blueberry vodka

89 ML Lemonade

3 Blueberries

Ice

Yum!  They also sell house made Bloody Mary mix which was crazy yum.  I walked away with a bottle of this for Father’s Day brunch.

And the Nantucket Vineyard is the perfect spot to belly up for some afternoon tasting.

I had a glass of the Viognier, which was quite good.

Chillin’ here is like paradise, the atmosphere (which P.S. is also family & dog friendly), the spirits, the vibe–all divine.

Notice the folks playing cornhole?

And don’t you love the Cisco mobile?

I think we found the spot for our 10th Anniversary Party!
