The Beauty of The Trees

After a morning measuring a 9/10 on the chaos meter and needing twice the amount of coffee as usual to function, I’m reassured by a simple message:

“Parents are often so busy with the physical rearing of children that they miss the glory of parenthood, just as the grandeur of the trees is lost when raking leaves.” –Marcelene Cox

I was also inspired by receiving a video link this morning, The Days Are Long, But the Years Short Click Here.

May we always treasure the beauty of the trees…and parenthood, for the seasons change too quickly.

Must Have Versace

Mark your calendars and radar for another couture designer & huge retailer collaboration.  Versace for H&M set to hit stores November 17—I better be able to walk by then!

Here’s a sneaky peaky at some of my favorite of the items that I hope to score.

This dress told (yes, certain clothes can talk, it’s going to be the next Pixar movie) me that it wants to come and live with me.  If necessary, I will trip ladies with my crutches getting in my way of this…ha ha.

Moving on, I simply must have this skirt.  Wouldn’t it be so cute with a simple black tank?

Doesn’t this gold bracelet look expensive?  Must have stocking stuffer for your favorite Fashionista.

This cap is perfect for playing the role of Snow Bunny this winter as you sip your hot toddys fireside.

I also must have this cuff.  Santa, I may need a bigger stocking this year…I’m just sayin’.

A few of the pieces in the collection read a little “bold” shall we say or “J.Lo” circa 2002 Grammys dress, you know the one, with wild tropical print?  Those will be better rocked by others than myself.

10 days and counting…

Clutch Much?

Is your mailbox/inbox getting full with Holiday invites?  You’re going to need the proper hand bag for all these par-tays, you know.  Might I suggest the always chic clutch.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who likes to see my name or initials on things?  This is one reason I’m coveting the VIP Wallet (though can easily go under your arm or in the palm of your hand as super cute clutch) by Boulevard Bags.  They are sold here in Seattle @ Canopy Blue.  It has just the right amount of sparkle to be worn with anything festive or not for that matter.

Next, an oversize zipper metallic cool clutch.  I LLLOOOVEEE this bag.  Found on Etsy, check it out here. And finally these beautiful sequined clutches are available at my friend’s store, The Painted Lady in Chicago.  Again, initials–chevron–sequins, swoon!Happy Weekend–here’s to some holiday wardrobe foraging.

Cute Lid

I love the concept of sporting something cute while doing good…

And so does Krochet Kids.  Read more about their story here.  Really inspiring stuff about crochet as a way of empowerment and employment by people living in Northern Uganda.

Buy a hat, change a life.  I’m in–you should be too.

Host/ess Gift for Halloween Parties

Looking for the perfect homemade gift to bring to all your Halloween parties?  Here are some fun ideas packaged with Martha Stewart’s spooky beverage Halloween labels for a unique touch.

Might I suggest making in your cauldron some homemade Cranberry Pepper Jelly?  My daughter and her Grandmother have been making jelly up a storm.

Recipe for Cranberry Pepper Jelly

Bon Appetit

Ingredients

  • 3 red bell peppers, finely chopped
  • 2 Fresno or red jalapeño chiles, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 cup liquid pectin
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 3 cups cranberries, fresh or frozen and thawed

Preparation

  • Combine peppers, chiles, sugar, red pepper flakes and salt in a heavy wide pot over medium heat and bring to a simmer, stirring to dissolve sugar. Stir in pectin and lemon juice. Reduce heat and simmer gently for 10 minutes.
  • Stir in cranberries and simmer gently until they burst and juices thicken, about 10 minutes longer. Transfer jelly to a jar, let cool, and cover. Will keep for up to 3 weeks in the refrigerator.

Serve on crackers with creamy cheese like brie or goat cheese.

Or what about a bottle of your favorite poison, but drink at your own risk!

The bottle above is of market fresh apple cider, down below we put a custom label on a bottle of vodka.  Oh and notice our jarred jelly with the “poison” label?  Cute huh?

A final thought, some candies/arsenic (for friends who you don’t like very much, ha ha!) in a pretty apothecary jar.

Trick or treat!
