A is for Ace Hotel, a not to be missed spot to see and be seen
B is for Birba where wood-fired pizza & other delights need to get into my belly
C is for Coachella, home of the valley and now epic annual music festival
D is for desert rides to collect cool breezes and copious rays
E is for eggs bene from Cheekys, always worth the wait
F is for fireside; where water logged kids warm from day long swim sessions
G is for Guacamole, practically a food group here
H is for hipsters; which are rising in numbers
I is for Ingleside Inn or the lounge at Melyvys where rat packers once hung and piano players still croon
J is for jasmine’s sweet fragrance that mingles with the scent of citrus blossoms to fill the air
K is for Kings Highway; where diners dine roadside
M is for Movie Colony, a quiet and lovely neighborhood where the likes of Cary Grant, Dinah Shore and Marilyn Monroe did once reside
O is for outlets. Stores in Cabazon worth the trip up Hwy 10 for killer designer deals and oh yah, In-n-Out for way home
P is for Purple Palm for relaxed & understated elegant poolside dining
Q is for Queens, drag queens who add to the local color
R is for retro that reigns supreme
S is for The San Jancinto Mountains providing a dramatic backdrop
T is for Trina Turk who sets the style standard for the valley. Must not miss her flagship store on Palm Canyon
U if for Uptown Design District; A mecca for modernism
V is for vintage; like these lovely retro glass pieces found at Bon Vivant (Uptown Design District)
W is for windmills, to harness the wind that comes whipping through the valley
P. S. W is also for white russians, served from Melyns for the perfect night cap
X is for XI (better known as 11) the number of kids at our daughter’s desert birthday party
Y is for yellow; colors pop here against the blue blue sky
Z is for Zoo; a camel ride from The Living Desert will take you right into the sunset.
