Delicousness

Forgive my lack of posting, new jobs will do that to you–considering I’m usually quite the multi-tasker, this is really saying something. Anyho, Let’s talk about food a moment, shall we? One of the ultra groovy/soon-to-be dangerous, aspects of my new location in downtown Seattle is being walking distance to four Tom Douglas restaurants. And if you think this is just a Seattle relevant post, you’re wrong as he was the 3rd Tom down on my Bing search, talk about a food Legend!. Last week, I checked out Serious Pie and my my, I love that pie. I noshed on…

Tea Time

Few activities reach the height of civilization and sophistication as attending afternoon tea. In a world filled frenzy and immediacy, take a moment to luxuriate with a loved one over this delightful nicety. In the words of Henry James from The Portrait of a Lady, “There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea.” Bergdorfs otherwise known as provider of all things chic in Manhattan, hosts a very special afternoon tea. A friend texted me about this, lamenting on how we should have been together to enjoy their lovely production….

Cutting Board Dinners

I am all about gourmet dining with quality and seasonal ingredients, but let’s be honest, when the dinner hour calls and it comes to feeding the munchkins while considering a bed time routine, the 4 food groups, etc., it’s all about getting in, getting out and getting the job done. So as much as frozen chicken dinosaurs are always delish, ah-hem…these days my husband and I opt out of the kid dinners, and now that it’s lighter out later, saving that quality/family time for some good walks around the hood, seems a fair swap. We postpone our dinner for a…

3 three-ingredient hors d’oeuvres

I/we love to entertain. As a matter of fact, I have a cocktail napkin collection, that borders on insane, as I always want to be prepared for impromptu gatherings. The best place to get them by the way, both for variety and price is Tuesday Morning. Anyways, cocktail hour is one of the most fun hours of the day. While that statement makes me sound like a lush, it’s largely due to hors d’oeuvres that typically come along for the ride! So while my husband outshines me in most things culinary, I do make a few mean hors d’oeuvres. I’ve…

Savannah (Part Deux)

No trip to Savannah or the area is complete without a visit to The Crab Shack for you guessed it, some amazing shellfish, a low country boil (see below) of course, and a cold one. Their tagline brags: “Where the elite eat in their bare feet” This place is beyond entertaining, the first thing to experience are the alligators who live on-site in the alligator lagoon, naturally, right? The best place to sit is outside on the patio which is super kick-back and adorned with upside down barrel lights. Other on-site creatures include roaming cats, like a one-legged one we…
